This project was visible since May 16th 2004 at several walls in the cityheart of Alphen aan den Rijn. On March 7th 2006 the artpanels Then and Now (artist: Marieke van Amerom) and Old and New (artist: Antonetta Moerland) were removed by the municipality in cooperation with the artists.

PRESS NEWS 2004: Nostalgia in the heart of the city Alphen aan den Rijn. As off May 16th Marieke van Amerom and Antonetta Moerland present the artprojects Then and Now and Old and New in the Staa-gallery/Center for Visual Art. Both artists realised an art-project for which the municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn gave the assignment because of cultural activities in relation to the demolition and rebuilding of city's heart. Six walls are being beautified with large pieces off art, who together show the life-surroundings in the year 1900 of the villages Alfen, Aarlanderveen and Oudshoorn.
In the year 1918 these three villages were bound together in one municipality, Alphen aan den Rijn. Van Amerom shows with her project Then and Now the people from that period in relation to the population nowadays. In a many coloured mixe of old town views but with a modern coat Moerland painted impressions of Alfen and surroundings from about one century ago with the title: Old and New. The pieces of Art wil be shown on the following buildings: Rijn & Gouwe building, ING-Banc Paradijslaan: Bonifaciusschool Paradijslaan: shop De Block Thorbeckeplein and the school at the Thorbeckestraat nr. 2 During of the exhibition is about 1 year.
On Sunday May 16th, at 16.00 hour Alderman mr.G.W.Willems from finance will give a speech on behalf of the Mayor and his college. After this Günther Gunnar Frank, trendwatcher, will speak. He is organisator of international trade markets at the field of textile-illumination-paper-christmas in Frankfurt, Tokyo, New York and Delhi. Next to this he gives gastcolleges at international schools in Colour-Vorm-Rithme.
After this presentation a walk of approximately half an hour will be made along de pieces of art through the city's heart with music played by A M 'Chayeh. These projects could be made thanks to the sponsoring of municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn; the VSB-Foundation Alphen e.o. and Van Vliet Building b.v. Aarlanderveen.
